Humans have been wired to connect, yet we’ve never been more isolated. With AI growing more responsive, conversational, and emotionally attuned by the day, we are increasingly turning to machines for what we’re not getting from each other – companionship. 

Through a short film, 'restore' aims to invite audiences into a space where they can reflect deeply on their role in creating connections through both human and AI lenses. Drawing on my own conversations with AI as a source of inspiration, I intend to create a reflective space as an AI user, whether intentional or not. What happens when we no longer create memories with other people, and instead ‘generate’ them with AI? Replacing things that were once significant to us? At the core of it, I believe that we are a reflection of AI, and AI is a reflection of us. But we are different entities. What will happen when we can no longer distinguish the two? The project intends to reveal stories about loss, replacement, doubt and ultimately hope for the future of humans and AI. Even if everything cannot be fully untangled, the act of beginning to question such ideas is the revelation in itself.

Dedicated to those who are afraid of Artificial Intelligence ‘taking’ our passions as creatives. Although AI will never truly disappear, I encourage all of us to take AI into account in discussions that will ultimately make us more human than we ever were. This project is a collaboration with multiple AI systems.
